Our congregation has a clear mission but a vision statement (who we want to become) is needed. This retreat will serve as a starting point for our congregation to learn how to survey, plan, process, craft, hope, and begin to create a future for the First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa. We want you to be a part of this church’s vision! According to the Lewis Center for Church Leadership, churches that grow are churches that have both a mission and a vision. A mission statement enables the congregation to rally around shared values. A vision for a church allows the church to work toward future goals. This retreat will allow us to learn how to craft our vision, together. Our retreat leader will give us the tools to discover how to craft our vision. Using proven ways of guiding congregations, we will learn how to process our vision that builds congregational health. You do not have to be an appointed leader of the congregation to attend, because leadership starts with everyone, not just the pastor or the deacons. Leaders must ask the right questions not the have the “right” answers. We must learn before we can decide. During this time we will learn how to ask the right questions so that we can move forward with our church’s vision.
